Just days after Princess Charlene of Monaco, 43, returned to Monaco after being stranded in South Africa for eight long months, rumours are swirling once again about the stability of her 10-year marriage to Prince Albert, 63.

Although Charlene, Albert, and their twins Jacques and Gabriella were reunited on November 9, it seems the couple may be experiencing marital woes, with reports sharing that Charlene is still feeling the impact of the ear and sinus issues, and other ill-health which grounded her in her home country of South Africa for much of the past year.

Celebrating the announcement of Charlene’s return, Albert shared on October 27 that he was very excited for Charlene to come home.

“I can tell you that she will be in Monaco long before the national holiday.”

This holiday occurs on November 19 every year with the royals greeting the public from their balconies. However, now that this national holiday is just days away, the Palace has made an announcement regarding Charlene’s health yet again, saying: “Having battled poor health over the past few months, the princess is currently convalescing and will continue to do so for the coming weeks”.

It was also announced that Charlene would stay at an undisclosed location for the coming weeks as she continues to recover, and that her public duties will resume when she is fit and ready to undertake them.

“Their serene highnesses have both decided that a period of calm and rest is necessary to ensure the very best recovery for Princess Charlene’s health,” the palace added. “As soon as her health permits, the princess will again share with joy convivial moments with the Monegasque.”

While Charlene’s poor health is the official line that has been maintained by Prince Albert, the Palace, and the extended Royal family, there are the inevitable theories circulating about Charlene’s extended absences from Royal life.

The popular royal was stuck in South Africa, due to “a serious sinus infection and bouts of surgery”, which “prevented Charlene from flying and forced her to convalesce at her house near Durban after what was supposed to be a short visit in March to carry out philanthropic work,” according to The Times.

However, this has been heavily speculated as a falsehood, with the rumour mill in overdrive that Charlene’s health was being used as a veil to hide a royal marriage breakdown.

While this has been disputed by the Palace, the speculation has not ceased.

The royal couple has been plagued by rumours about the state of their union since its earliest days. Eyebrows were raised when Charlene appeared to be “reluctant” before marrying her Prince, who is 20 years her senior.

Whether these fresh rumours are true or not, we wish Charlene and Albert good health, and happiness.
