The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations have kicked off to the most wonderful of starts as the Royal Family gathered together for the highly-anticipated annual Trooping of the Colour on June 2, 2022.
The Monarch beamed as she was pictured enjoying intimate moments alongside close family members on the famous Buckingham Palace balcony to watch the highly-anticipated annual fly-by.
Her Majesty wore a gorgeous long-sleeve, baby blue dress, with stunning golden lace, embellishing the neck and running down the front trim of the dress – the same outfit she was captured in just a day before as she posed for a special portrait taken at her Windsor Castle home.
This time, the Monarch added a few event-appropriate accessories as she donned a statement baby-blue wide-brimmed hat, tinted light brown sunglasses and her ‘now’ signature walking stick.
Joining Her Majesty on the Palace balcony were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their three young children, George, Charlotte and Louis, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Anne and husband Sir Timothy Laurence, the Earl and Countess of Wessex along with their children, Lady Louise and Viscount Severn were also present.
The close knit family were all smiles as they stood side by side on the balcony to enjoy a first-class view of the festivities. According to Nine, the Royal Navy Wildcat, Royal Navy Merlin and British Army Apache helicopters were first to grace the skies.
Amongst the excitement of the day, The Queen was pictured sharing quite the touching moment with her adorable young great-grandson, Prince Louis, 4. Her Majesty was seen leaning down to young Louis as the two shared a sweet exchange, Her Majesty pointing to the aircraft as she whispered to Louis.
According to the Daily Mail, a lip reading expert was able to reveal the pair’s conversation where the Queen reportedly said to Louis, “Look, can you see them? Look at that!” as she signalled to the planes.
Louis reportedly then joined his grandmother in pointing to the planes, before the Queen added, “Yes, the Arrows – red, white and blue”.
Young Louis was dressed in an ultra-cute blue and white sailors outfit alongside his family who also donned shades of white and blue. The Duchess of Cambridge look striking in a flattering bright white blazer dress, statement blue and white millinery hate and matching blue clutch. Princess Charlotte, 7, wore a gorgeous sky blue dress with loose sleeves and Prince George, 8, looked handsome in a tailored navy blue suit and sky blue tie. The Duke of Cambridge was, of course, dressed in his official military Trooping of the Colour uniform.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were absent for the intimate balcony gathering after it was revealed last month that the Queen had forbid the ex-royals from the this year’s balcony appearance.
The special lighting of the Platinum Jubilee beacon took place later that night.
