It’s set to be the wedding of the year and with just two months to go, punters are upping the ante on who will walk Meghan Markle down the aisle.
While there’s no word yet from the royal family on who will give away the former Suits actress, bookies started handing out odds the day the palace announced the royal engagement.
Not-so-surprisingly a royal has topped the list — yes, Prince William might be walking Meghan down the aisle. There has been speculation since early in the engagement that William will fill the role, since Meghan’s father, Tom Markle has reportedly “failed” to make the guest list.
If he does take on the honour, William will be very busy on the day since Prince Harry has already asked his brother to be his ‘supporter’, aka best man.

While William has topped the list, Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland and father are still in with a chance according to punters, at second- and third-favourite respectively.
Some of the more ridiculous names to make the list include Patrick J. Adams, who plays Meghan’s on-screen husband in Suits, Elton John, who has reportedly cancelled two gigs at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas to attend the wedding, Barack Obama, Donald Trump and even Prince Charles and Camilla.
According to Us Weekly, Meghan wants her mother to be the one to give her away. Meghan has spoken publicly about her close relationship with her mother, and in the royal couple’s first interview after announcing their engagement, Harry spoke fondly of Doria, and called her an “amazing” source of support.
However, the reports come after Meghan’s sister Samantha, 53, insisted their dad would be fulfilling the traditional wedding role of the father of the bride — including making a speech.
This isn’t the first time punters have starting handing out odds on the royal family. Bookies are already betting on the gender and name of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third bundle of joy, due in April, and a girl named Mary is the top choice. If the new baby is named Mary, she’ll be in good company. Mary is one of the Queen’s middle names and her grandmother’s name.
Harry and Meghan are set to tie the knot on May 19 at St George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
