Support for the Duchess of Cornwall has skyrocketed in the days after the momentous “Queen Camilla” announcement by Her Royal Highness.
9News reports Camilla has gained so much popularity, that more people are now agreeing with the Queen’s choice rather than those who are against it.
In a new poll conducted by JL Partners for the DailyMail, a majority of all the age groups supported Camilla receiving the new title.
The poll found 55 per cent of the Brits supported the decision, while only 28 per cent opposed it.
While half of those who participated in the poll said that they had a great amount of respect for the Duchess of Cornwall, 58 per cent say they believe Diana, Princess of Whales, would have been better suited as Queen, with only 16 per cent choosing the Duchess.
The poll also showed that while many believed that Camilla would be a good Queen and that having Charles and Camilla rule would be an asset to the country, 68 per cent said the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would be better options for King and Queen.
Surprisingly though, a majority agreed that the crown should not skip a generation and go to Prince William when the Queen dies.
The poll also showed an increase in popularity for all members of the Royal household, except Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Prince Andrew-whose ratings had plummeted.
During Camilla’s first public outing since Her Majesty’s announcement over the weekend, February 6, the duchess was greeted with cheers and chants of “Queen Camilla” during her visit to a primary school in Bath.
Speaking on the Today Show, royal commentator Camilla Tominey said “the time has probably come” for Camilla to be known as Queen.
“As the Queen said herself, she feels that because of Camilla’s stalwart service, not only to Prince Charles but also Queen and country, that she deserves to be known as the next Queen.”
