Rod Taylor passes away, age 84

It has been confirmed that of the greatest Australian actors, Rod Taylor has died of natural causes at age 84. It is reported that he passed away on Wednesday at his home, surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Carol and his daughter Felicia.

Rod starred in more than 50 Hollywood films throughout his career including The Time Machineand The Train Robbers to The Catered Affair. More recently he played the voice of Pongo in in Disney’s 101 Dalmations and played Winston Churchill in Inglorious Basterds. His most iconic role was in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 film, The Birds.

His co-star in The Birds, Tippi Hedren has released a statement saying, “There are so many incredible feelings I have for him. Rod was a great pal to me and a real strength, we were very, very good friends. He was one of the most fun people I have ever met, thoughtful and classy, there was everything good in that man.”

He was an Australian acting icon and his work is incredibly well known. We hope that Rod rests in peace, we know his spirit and talent will be missed by many.
