Best known as the formidable quizzer on The Chase, Anne Hegerty might soon be lighting up the small screen in a very different role.

Hegerty revealed that she could be soon appearing in a sitcom, with a colleague from The Chase penning a part specifically for her.

“I’d love to be on a TV show or a film. I know various people who are trying to get things off the ground. One of them is the guy on The Chase, he’s written a sitcom with a part for me,” she revealed to A Tall Man Podcast, as per the Daily Star

But Hegerty’s ambitions don’t stop there. The quizmaster also dreams of stepping into the Marvel universe, playfully imagining herself as a “fat old supervillain” on the big screen.

It’s not the first time Hegerty has shared her aspirations to branch out into the world of acting, while recently speaking with BBC Three Counties Radio she opened up about how her recent experience in the short film Exorcising Barry inspired her new goals.

Hegerty made her on-screen acting debut in the short film which follows two friends who stage an exorcism. The professional quizzer was cast as nosy neighbour Barb.

While admitting she was open to further movie roles, Hegerty expressed her preference for action roles.

“I like an action movie, not that I’m very good at action but I can be the person that sits behind the desk and tells everybody to go out,” she said.

“I’d love to be in the next James Bond film, I’d love to be in the MCU [Marvel Cinematic Universe], anything like that.”

While some fans may be concerned that Hegerty could be swapping her time on The Chase for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, rest assured that the quizmaster has previously indicated her unwavering love for the program.

When recently asked about her plans on the show, the quiz legend responded with enthusiasm, no doubt leaving fans buzzing.

“As long as they’ll have me. I don’t have any plans to retire. This is the little workhorse that makes everything else possible, and I love doing it,” she revealed in a previous interview with the Daily Star.

Hegerty’s affection for the show is evident as she described it as “the best job I’ve ever had.”
