Rumours of extra-marital affairs have surrounded the couple for years, but now First Lady of the United States Melania Trump has finally spoken out about her husband’s alleged fling with porn star Stormy Daniels.

Dismissing the rumours entirely, Melania, 48, claimed she has “more important” things to think about than scandalous rumours, during a frank interview with correspondent Tom Llamas which aired on ABC News, in America, on Friday.

“I’m a mother and a first lady, and I have much more important things to think about and to do,” she said. “It is not concern and focus of mine.”

The First Lady, who agreed to the interview with the US news channel with no pre-conditions about what could be asked, added that speculation that her marriage is not a good one is “media gossip”.

Asked if she loved her husband, she quickly responded: “Yes, we are fine. It’s what media speculate, and it’s gossip. It’s not always correct stuff.”

The rare TV chat was prerecorded during Slovenia-born Melania’s recent solo tour of Africa, which she embarked upon earlier this month.

Trump’s second wife visited the countries of Ghana, Malawi, Kenya and Egypt during the trip, having previously only ever travelled overseas for official visits alongside her 72-year-old husband.

The 45th US President has vehemently denied porn star Stormy Daniels’ allegations that the pair had a fling more than a decade ago. However, earlier this year he did admit reimbursing Michael Cohen, his former personal lawyer, a $130,000 hush payment.

Former model Melania’s interview comes less than a week after Daniels – whose real name is Stephanie Clifford – gave a tell-all interview on Channel Nine’s 60 Minutes, during which she said she had “no idea” why she allegedly agreed to sleep with him and described the disputed romp as “90 seconds that I never thought about really again”.

However the adult entertainer did confess to feeling “terrible” about shaming the president publicly over the size of his manhood, adding: “I was very angry in writing that. And now that the book is out and people are reading about it, and it’s all over the internet I actually feel pretty terrible about it … in a way it’s body shaming.”

What are your thoughts on this story? Do you think it’s good that Melania has finally spoken out in her own defence?
