Jackson Warne, the son of late cricketing legend Shane Warne, has shared three powerful pieces of life advice from his late dad that have influenced the person he’s become.
Jackson reflected on the “three things he (Warne) always used to say” in a post on his Instagram as he visited the newly renamed Shane Warne Commentary Box at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in the UK.
“My best friend taught me a lot of life lessons and help shape me into the man I am today,” the caption read.
“Three things he always used to say to me were: manners are free, don’t give up [and] be present.
“Miss you dad.”
Jackson’s post was met with heartwarming messages from friends, family, and fans alike.
“Love you Jacko, so very special,” Jackson’s sister Brooke commented.
“I love those messages Jackson, what an amazing Dad and a very good person. He was the best. Sending you so much love from us all always hunni,” one person said.
“Great messages from a great man Jackson,” said another.
Warne’s death rocked Australia and the cricketing world when the King of Spin was found unresponsive in his room at the Thai beach resort of Koh Samui on March 4, 2022.
Paramedics revealed how they battled to revive the cricket legend as his friends watched on in desperation.
Jackson shared a touching tribute to his dad on social media at the time, saying Warne was “the best father and best mate anyone could have asked for”.
“To my brother, my best friend, to my Dad, I love you so much. I don’t think anything is ever going to fill the void you have left in my heart,” Jackson wrote on Instagram.
“Sitting at the poker table, walking around the golf course, watching the Saints and eating pizza is never going to be the same but I know all you ever wanted for me is to be happy, no matter what. So, that’s what I’m going to do, try and be happy.
“Every day you told me how proud you were of me and I promise to try and keep making you proud.
“I am going to miss you so much Dad, I wish I could look you in the eyes 1 more time and give you one more hug. You were truly the best father and best mate anyone could’ve asked for.
“I love you so much Dad, see you soon.”
