Karl Stefanovic and his wife Jasmine Yarbrough have welcomed their first child together, a beautiful baby girl. The couple has named their daughter Harper May Stefanovic.

The wonderful news was announced on the Today show on Saturday morning by Karl’s colleague, Richard Wilkins. Richard confirmed that Harper weighs 2.9kg and was born just after midday on Friday.

“Harper and Jasmine are doing well and dad had a great night’s sleep,” Karl told Today. “I am in awe. Harper is absolutely perfect.”

The Today show also uploaded an adorable image onto their Instagram page, writing: “Karl Stefanovic and wife Jasmine Yarbrough have welcomed the arrival of a baby girl.”

Many fans were quick to comment on the happy news, with one writing: “She is gorgeous. Congratulations.” Another commented: “Congratulations how adorable.” While another said: “Congratulations team Stefanovic.”

This is Karl and Jasmine’s first child together but marks Karl’s fourth child. He shares his three eldest kids Jackson, 20, Ava, 14 and River, 12, with his ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn.

The news comes after Karl spoke of his disappointment that his much-loved mother, Jenny, won’t get to meet his new baby daughter when she’s due later this year, as the coronavirus crisis unfolds. The Today host and his wife Jasmine are based in Sydney, while his mum lives in Cairns, and strict new government restrictions mean people are not allowed to travel between states and territories.

The presenter became emotional when discussing the interstate travel restrictions and hospital protocols and said Jenny feels “so isolated” in Queensland. “My mum lives in Cairns,” he explained on the Today show last month. “She’s just turned 70. She feels so isolated … she can’t travel interstate.”
