Madeleine McCann went missing almost 11 years ago.

The hunt for missing Madeleine McCann will continue, as funds have been approved for police to pursue a “final line of inquiry”.

The youngster, aged three at the time of her disappearance almost 11 years ago, went missing on the evening of May 3, 2007, from her bed in a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, a resort in the Algarve region of Portugal, while her parents ate nearby.

Not a trace of the little girl with the uniquely shaped right pupil has been found since, leaving her family devastated and on an endless pursuit for answers.

Now, according to the Mail Online, the Home Office in Britain has handed out further funds to Operation Grange – the Met Police’s official investigation. A Home Office representative told the publication the government “remains committed” to finding the little girl, while Scotland Yard declined to share any more details on the ongoing investigation.

Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann said they were “incredibly grateful”, and their spokesman Clarence Mitchell added to the publication: “It gives them hope that one day they may finally find out what happened to their daughter.”

It comes after investigators were given an additional £154,000 in funding to seek a “person of interest” last October, in the long running, multi-million dollar investigation. That funding is reportedly due to run out in just a few days.

Meanwhile, Kate McCann recently revealing that she still buys her missing daughter birthday and Christmas presents, as she marked the 10th anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance.

“But I couldn’t not, you know, she’s still our daughter, she’ll always be our daughter.

“Madeleine is part of our life, there’s photographs all round the house. Whether it be a birthday, family occasion or even an achievement or something, that is kind of when you really feel her absence.”

The story of Madeleine’s disappearance has captivated the world with millions of parents sympathising with the McCanns. It’s difficult to imagine how anyone could handle something like this happening to their child or grandchild. The McCanns say the overwhelming public support has helped them get through the ordeal.

Not one piece of forensic evidence linked to Madeleine has been found since her disappearance.

Do you think it’s important to keep funding this investigation?
