After nearly 16 years of marriage, singing sensation Rod Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster have once again said “I do”, renewing their wedding vows during a secret ceremony in Australia.
As reported by Woman’s Day, Stewart and his wife held the private ceremony in March while the 78-year-old was touring Australia.
Having exchanged vows at a medieval monastery in Portofino, Italy on June 16, 2007, the couple made headlines in 2017 after renewing their wedding vows for the first time on the grounds of their Essex residence.
Regarding the most recent renewal of vows, a close friend told the publication that there was “a very good reason why Rod’s insisted he space out his tour dates, it’s the perfect place and the perfect time to renew their wedding vows”.
“They wanted to do this years ago but, just like his Aussie tour, that’s been another thing on hold. Now they can’t wait and are using this chance to do something special while here,” the friend said.
“They love Australia and have incredibly happy family memories of their time there when the boys were little. They think there’s something magical about Australia and want to exchange new marriage vows there. Penny’s made Rod a very happy man and he can’t wait to celebrate their against-all-odds union.
“Penny is the first woman Rod’s been faithful to, after an early hiccup that saw her walk out on him.
“Penny and Rod love being in love, they think there’s something fun about celebrating their vows in different locations around the world, so why not do it all again in Sydney!”
It’s been a good year so far for the Maggie May hitmaker, in addition to his recent vows it was revealed that he is set to become a grandfather for the second time. On Monday, January 2 Stewart’s daughter, Ruby, shared the good news to social media with a video of her gender reveal party in which Stewart was given the honour of making the announcement.
After opening up a piece of paper in front of the family, the 78-year-old pumped his fist in the air as he excitedly declared, “it’s a boy”.
Ruby took to Instagram once again, later in the day, to share an ultrasound video alongside a caption expressing her excitement.
“Out of all of the things that happened in 2022 you were by far the most beautiful…We can’t wait to meet you…Baby boy Kalick coming in April,” she wrote.

Stewart was met with more happy baby news after the British rockstar’s son Liam Stewart, 28, whom he shares with ex-wife and Kiwi model Rachel Hunter, 53, also announced that he is expecting his first child with his partner Nicole Ann.
Taking to Instagram, the couple shared the beautiful news with a black and white video montage of their first sonogram, Liam holding a copy of their ultrasound, and Nicole showing off her growing baby bump.
“Mom + Dad | Baby Boy joins us in May,” Nicole captioned the post.
