Olivia Newton-John’s husband, John Easterling, has shared a touching tribute to his late wife, describing their love as unfathomable.

The emotional tribute shared on the Australian icon’s social media on Thursday, August 11, was addressed to Newton-John.

“Olivia, our love for each other transcends our understanding,” the tribute began.

“Every day we expressed our gratitude for this love that could be so deep, so real, so natural. We never had to ‘work’ on it. We were in awe of this great mystery and accepted the experience of our love as past, present and forever.

“At Olivia’s deepest essence she was a healer using her mediums of song, of words, of touch. She was the most courageous woman I’ve ever known.

“Her bandwidth for genuinely caring for people, for nature and all creatures almost eclipses what is humanely possible. It is only the grace of God that has allowed me to share the depth and passion of her being for so long.

“In her most difficult times she always had the spirit, the humor, and the will power to move things into the light.

“Even now as her soul soars, the pain and holes in my heart are healed with the joy of her love and the light that shines forward.

“Our family deeply appreciates the vast ocean of love and support that has come our way. Onward Ho. John Easterling.”

Easterling announced the Grease star’s death on August 9, saying Newton-John had “passed away peacefully”.

“Dame Olivia Newton-John (73) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time,” he wrote.

“Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the @onjfoundation.

“Olivia is survived by her husband John Easterling; daughter Chloe Lattanzi; sister Sarah Newton-John; brother Toby Newton-John; nieces and nephews Tottie, Fiona and Brett Goldsmith; Emerson, Charlie, Zac, Jeremy, Randall, and Pierz Newton-John; Jude Newton-Stock, Layla Lee; Kira and Tasha Edelstein; and Brin and Valerie Hall.”

Australians mourning the loss of the entertainment icon will have the opportunity to bid farewell to the late actress as the Victorian government has offered a state funeral to honour the late star.

Speaking to A Current Affair, Newton-John’s niece Tottie Goldsmith said Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews extended the offer and that the family plan to accept the gracious honour.

“We will, on behalf of not just our family, but I think Australia needs it. She was so loved,” Goldsmith said.

“I think our country needs it so we’re going to accept it.”

However, Goldsmith has clarified that Newton-John would be laid to rest on her ranch in the US, saying “she’ll be with her horses and her dogs and her chickens and her daughter and her husband.”

Nonetheless, Andrews says Newton-John’s state funeral will be “celebrating her life … her music and film and all the other amazing contributions that she made.”

“She took her cancer journey and used that to save lives and change lives, and that’s just a deeply impressive thing,” he said.
