The days of Fleetwood Mac taking the stage may soon be coming to an end after band member Mick Fleetwood revealed that the passing of Christine McVie has drawn a “line in the sand”.

McVie passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the age of 79, leaving the music community and fans in a state of mourning.

McVie’s family issued a statement to social media at the time, announcing “with a heavy heart” that the 79 year old had passed away “peacefully” in hospital.

“It is with a heavy heart we are informing you of Christine’s death. She passed away peacefully at the hospital this morning, Wednesday, November 30th 2022, following a short illness,” the statement read.

“She was in the company of her family.

“We kindly ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this extremely painful time and we would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally.”

While speaking to reporters on the red carpet during the 65th Grammy Awards on Sunday February 5, Fleetwood conveyed that he believes the band is “done”.

“I think right now, I truly think the line in the sand has been drawn with the loss of Chris,” he said.

“I’d say we’re done, but then we’ve all said that before. It’s sort of unthinkable right now.”

Fleetwood was in attendance at the award show to perform a musical tribute to his late bandmate alongside Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt.

Following Fleetwood’s comments, fans from near and far took to social media in reaction to the suggestion that the band would be no more.

McVie joined Fleetwood Mac in 1970 and became an integral member of the group, providing lead vocals and becoming the band’s keyboardist.
