They famously haven’t always gotten it right when it comes to fashion, but Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were the picture of elegance when they attended the opening day of Royal Ascot on Tuesday.
The daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, looked stunning at the prestigious annual horse racing event, opting for classic frocks and sophisticated hats for the posh occasion.
Princess Beatrice, 29, looked demure in a powder-blue fitted dress designed by royal go-to Claire Mischevani, who recently dressed Zara Tindall for Meghan and Harry’s wedding. The simple, yet elegant, dress cinched the princess in at the waist and featured a flattering floral jacquard pattern.
Beatrice, who works for US technology firm Afiniti, completed her look with a pair of nude heeled court shoes from high-street label Kurt Geiger and an eye-catching fascinator, in the same shade of blue, by milliner Juliette Botterill.
While bride-to-be Princess Eugenie, 28, looked almost bridal in a white wrap dress, by Osman, which was tied around her middle with a wide belt and finished just below the knee. Eugenie, who will marry Jack Brooksbank at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor later this year, teamed the striking dress with a pair of Valentino high-heels and an elegant oversized headpiece by Emily London.
Beatrice and Eugenie arrived in style in a horse-drawn carriage, joined by the Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, while Queen Elizabeth arrived with her daughter the Princess Royal, in the absence of the Duke of Edinburgh who retired from public life last year.
Meanwhile, newlyweds Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex, who made her debut at the renowned racing event in a Givenchy shirt dress, arrived alongside Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, who also looked stunning in a flattering pink frock.
After a day at the races, the royal sisters performed a quick outfit change and slipped into something a little edgier for an appearance at Chanel’s annual summer party, held at The Serpentine Pavilion, in London.
Eugenie beamed as she posed for photos in a bold black dress, decorated with a metallic floral design in blue and purple. She wore the one-shoulder tunic over a pair of black leggings and wore her dark hair in soft curls which hung to her shoulders.
Beatrice replaced her baby blue dress with a bold peacock-patterned dress, which she styled with a black leather jacket and box bag. The annual celebrity soirée is hosted by Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld, with tickets for the exclusive bash costing around £4,000 (AU$5,346, US$3,951).
