Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster may have been married for 11 years, but there’s no sign of the romance fading anytime soon.
The loved-up couple stepped out together for the Evgeny Lebedev Christmas Party in London on Friday night and couldn’t wipe the smiles off their faces as they cosied up and posed for a few happy snaps.
The fashion-forward couple turned things up in the style stakes, with Penny, 47, sporting a metallic wrap dress which showcased her toned pins. The blonde beauty teamed her saucy look with a statement red fur jacket and a pair of pointed stilettos.
Meanwhile Rod looked equally stylish in a pair of black trousers, long wool coat and a white shirt, which he paired with a funky leopard print shoes. The ‘Maggie May’ singer’s trademark golden locks were styled to perfection.
The couple were joined by numerous other stars at the party, including Elizabeth Hurley, Helen Mirren and Robbie Williams.
The singer’s been happily married to wife Penny since 2007 and says he’s now happy to have a kiss and a cuddle before bed, and nothing more.
“I love sex with my wife but I love just giving her a hug before we go to bed,” he told The Mail on Sunday newspaper’s Event magazine this weekend in a candid interview. “Every night we have a kiss and a hug and that doesn’t always lead to sex but it’s still lovely.”
Not only is he no longer champing at the bit to get hot and heavy, but the ‘Do Ya Think I’m Sexy’ singer also admits it takes a bit to get him going these days. “Well, I need a bit of a start on the handle now, that’s for sure,” he jokes. “Like a vintage car.”
But he wouldn’t swap happy family life with Penny and their sons Aiden, 7, and Alastair, 12, for a return to his lothario days, which Stewart admits saw him act like a cad plenty of times. “It was a different era but that’s no excuse really,” he says of the abrupt way he ended some previous dalliances. “I can be accused of being cowardly, and rightly so.”
Lancaster is Stewart’s third wife but he also had plenty of high-profile girlfriends, including model Britt Ekland, and is the father of eight children, including a 55-year-old daughter who was given up for adoption in 1963 when the singer, then 17, and his teenage girlfriend and mother of his child broke up.
