It might seem like it’s all about Meghan Markle these days, but the Countess of Wessex proved that the royal family is filled with fashionistas as she looked fresh-faced and elegant at a charity event.

Ever the picture of elegance, Prince Edward’s wife showed off her style credentials in the colourful patterned frock for the event at Harewood House, in Leeds, on Monday.

The 53-year-old mother, who married the Queen’s youngest son in 1999, looked radiant as she posed for photos at the event in the full-length frock, which she teamed with a blue wrap and classic nude, heeled shoes. She accessorised the ensemble with a simple silver necklace and matching earrings, while carrying a sophisticated silver clutch bag.

It’s been a busy week for the royal, who was also spotted in a vibrant blue dress during a visit to Leeds Children’s Hospital earlier that day.

The royal wore a summery blue dress featuring a vibrant daisy print pattern — a striking pattern that looked eye-catching without being busy in the way a more traditional floral fabric would’ve been.

She teamed the summery number with a pair of pointed nude courts and simple silver jewellery as she spent time chatting to staff and patients. Sophie opted for minimum makeup and swept her hair in a simple chignon for the day’s event.

On Saturday, Sophie joined senior members of the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the 2018 Trooping the Colour aerial display.
