UPCOMING EVENT: A comedy night for, and by, older Australians

Share:
Breakfast radio legend Terry Hansen will MC a fun-filled evening celebrating the ups and downs of ageing.

Do you live in or around Brisbane? Are you looking for a great night out, filled with laughs that you can really relate to?

South-East Queensland readers are warmly invited to the Starts at 60 Comedy Festival — a special one-night-only comedy event especially for over-60s.

This fun-filled evening, held at Brisbane’s iconic Sit Down Comedy Club on Thursday 5 September, is the culmination of Starts at 60’s nationwide search for Australia’s Funniest Boomer.

Ten national finalists flown to Brisbane to compete for the title live on stage. Joining them are former KIIS 97.3 breakfast radio host Terry Hansen as MC and beloved local comedian Fred Lang as the headline act. Learn more here.

When: Thursday 5th September 2024
(Doors open 6.00pm, show begins 7.00pm)
Where: Sit Down Comedy Club
(The Paddo Tavern, 186 Given Terrace, Paddington, QLD)

Get some friends together — or make plenty of new ones — for a side-splitting evening celebrating the ups and downs of ageing gracefully (sometimes disgracefully), as lived and filtered (sometimes not-so-filtered) through Australia’s finest Grey Comic voices.

Meet the finalists

  • Andy Payne (Melbourne, VIC) – A recent graduate of Hard Knock Knocks Comedy School, Andy’s quirky observational humour has quickly gained recognition.
  • Queenie Gott (Maryborough, QLD) – A seasoned performer with experience on Australia’s Got Talent and at the Sydney Opera House.
