Who remembers their special Sunday outfit?

In the days before disposable fashion, everyone only had one or two outfits for weddings, funerals and the formal events in between.

To buy a new outfit was far more expensive than it is today, in comparison to wages, and making one meant spending hours at the sewing machine. Either way, it wasn’t something usually done lightly to fill a Saturday morning, as shopping can be now.

Which ‘Sunday best’ outfit did you wear that’s stuck in your mind? Was it purchased, home-made or a hand-me-down? Did you love or loathe it?
