Guests travelling with this major cruise line can now add a private island to their itinerary.

Royal Caribbean International has just launched Perfect Day at CocoCay, a private island located in The Bahamas.

The company spent US$250 million (AU$357M) on the island, which offers a combination of thrilling activities, such as a 41-metre-high waterslide — the tallest waterslide in North America — a 488-metre-long zip-line course, and Up, Up and Away, a helium balloon ride that takes cruisers 137 metres into the air.

The island also features a series of smaller slides, a wave pool and an adventure pool equipped with its own obstacle course.

And if you’re feeling peckish a handful of delicious dining options are scattered around the island, including Captain Jack’s, the island hangout, Skipper’s Grill, made up of lunchtime favourites like salads, sandwiches, tacos, burgers, fresh fruit and desserts, and Chill Grill, the largest dining venue on the island.

The entire island opens in December — including the highly-anticipated private beach resort called Coco Beach Club — but sections of it are open now such as the waterslides and zip line.

“Royal Caribbean is the proven leader when it comes to pushing the envelope in cruise ship design and the experiences offered at sea,” Michael Bayley, President and CEO at Royal Caribbean International, said.

“With Perfect Day at CocoCay, we are so proud to bring our 50-year legacy of innovation ashore to transform an incredible island that now completely revolutionises private destinations in the vacation industry. It is exciting to see what we have dreamed up finally come to life; our guests truly are in for an experience unlike any other.”
