Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly put a lot of people offside with their recent trip to Nigeria.
While royal commentators pour over the details of their visit and offer their criticisms of the tour, behind closed doors, members of the Royal Family are reportedly “furious”.
During a recent interview with The Mirror, royal author Tom Quinn explained that Harry and Meghan’s Nigeria visit “really upset the applecart” and that King Charles and Prince William are the most incensed.
“William is absolutely furious and determined to find a way to stop this happening in future. Charles is said to be angrier than anyone has ever seen him,” he told the publication.
“What’s really upset the applecart is the fact that the Nigerians treated Meghan and Harry as if they too thought this was an official tour – all the signs were there as the couple were greeted with dances, receptions, visits to schools and charities.”
In addition to their frustration, Charles and William have reportedly been left “scratching their heads” over how to manage such behaviour from Harry and Meghan moving forward.
“William and Charles are scratching their heads and thinking, ‘How are we going to control this nightmare situation?’,” Quinn said.
“Everything you might expect from an official royal visit was there – the receptions, the visits to schools and charities, to wounded soldiers and the disabled. Meghan and Harry’s speeches and their whole attitude has been designed to give the impression that they are still fully paid-up royals and William and his father King Charles don’t like it one bit.
“For Charles and William, it’s as if Meghan and Harry are saying, ‘We don’t need your permission to be working royals – we will do it on our own terms whenever and wherever we like’.”
While Harry and Meghan may be causing King Charles some grief, his daughter-in-law Princess Catherine is reportedly doing the Monarch proud.
Princess Catherine and King Charles have always shared a strong bond. The King reportedly regards Catherine as the daughter he never had, while she, in turn, treats him like a father.
Their respective battles with cancer have only strengthened their relationship, bringing them even closer together through shared support and understanding.
Deepening their connection was Catherine’s emotional video message in which she revealed her cancer diagnosis, the message reportedly left the King deeply moved.
“Charles was moved to tears by Kate’s stunning video announcement that she has cancer,” royal author Christopher Andersen recently told Fox News Digital.
“The King sees her as, in a word, brave. He also knows better than anyone that the future of the monarchy is, to a considerable extent, in her hands.
“She is not only the wife of a future king but the mother of a future monarch. Kate has also shown herself to be unswervingly loyal to the royal family and above reproach—things he can’t always say about other Windsors.
“Nobody understands more fully than King Charles just how difficult fighting cancer can be—the toll it takes emotionally and physically.
“The King has made it clear that whatever Kate feels she needs, she gets.”
