The clashing Royals, Prince William and Prince Harry and their wives the Princess of Wales and Meghan Markle, have continued to put on a show of solidarity to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II following her death on September 8.
Coming together for the Queen’s lying in state ceremony at Westminster Hall, the Princes walked side-by-side as they followed the procession carrying their grandmother’s decorated coffin into the historical building.
William donned his decorated corps uniform, however, as Harry stepped down from royal duties he is no longer allowed to wear his military attire, he wore a traditional mourning suit with his service medals on display.
Despite years of strained relations between the brothers, the pair walked behind their father King Charles III and his siblings Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and the Princess Royal, Anne.
United in grief, the brother’s appearance was reminiscent of 25 years ago when the Princes came together in a similar fashion for the funeral of their mother, Princess Diana in 1997.
While the Princes put on a show of unity, their wive’s arrived separately to the service.
Donned in black and wearing one of the Queen’s brooches with matching teardrop pearl earrings, Kate arrived with Queen Consort Camilla.
Meghan arrived with the Countess of Wessex, Sophie, in similar mourning dress as her sister-in-law, flourished with a subtle pair of pearl earrings.
The two women supported their husbands through the ceremony, standing beside the men in formation.
Her Majesty’s coffin entered to the sound of angelic voices singing Psalm 139 from the joint chorus of Westminster Abbey and His Majesty’s Chapel Royal choirs.
The reunited Royal’s coming together for the service at Westminster Hall is the second time they’ve put on a show of unity since the Queen’s passing.
Prince William reportedly extended the invitation to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to join him and his wife, the now Princess of Wales, for a walk through the grounds of Windsor Castle.
Walking through the gates of the Castle together on Saturday, September 10, the Princes and their wives met and spoke with members of the crowd and viewed flowers left at the gates in tribute to the late Monarch.
Although both couples remained mostly separate during the walk, royal watchers remain hopeful that the move hints at a possible reconciliation between the pair.
As William spoke with the crowd he was overheard telling one well-wisher that the Queen’s passing has felt “so surreal”.
“We all thought she was invincible,” he said.
Prince Harry told the crowd that the Queen was a “great granny”.
“No matter what room of the castle you are in, you can feel her presence,” he said.
