The Duchess of York has used the new year as an opportunity to honour the late Queen Elizabeth II with a moving tribute.
As the world rang in the new year, Ferguson posted a photo of the Queen dressed in a yellow outfit as she attended Royal Ascot in 2018 alongside a poignant message.
“We will miss you always dearest friend. You remain in our hearts. Happy New Year,” she wrote alongside the photo.
The 63 year old also featured a handwritten poem that appeared to reflect on the Queen’s passing while wishing everyone a happy New Year.
“As the primroses appear on the banks of Windsor so clear,” the poem read.
“New beginnings, new paths, new rainbows to see.
“You are tucked in our hearts even though apart – So welcome 2023, knowing you are free.
“Happy New Year.”
Royal watcher were quick to share their delight over Ferguson’s touching tribute while reflecting on the memory of the Queen.
“Life isn’t the same without her Majesty, all the best to you and yours,” one wrote.
“Thank you, Duchess Sarah! Very touching memorial.”
“What a lovely post. Happy New Year to you and your family,” commented another.
“Lovely words Sarah, thinking of you all and sending love.”
“Most definitely tucked in our hearts. Lovely sentiments, I’m so sorry for your personal loss of Queen Elizabeth 2, I cannot imagine. Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year!”
Ferguson’s recent post follows a previous tribute to the Queen following her passing in 2022. As news broke of the Queen’s death, the Duchess of York took to social media to convey her sadness and reflect on the Queen’s “extraordinary legacy”.
“I am heartbroken by the passing of Her Majesty the Queen. She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy: the most fantastic example of duty and service and steadfastness, and a constant steadying presence as our head of state for more than 70 years. She has given her whole life selflessly to the people of the UK and the Commonwealth,” she wrote.
“To me, she was the most incredible mother-in-law and friend. I will always be grateful to her for the generosity she showed me in remaining close to me even after my divorce. I will miss her more than words can express.”
