Prince George is celebrating his eight birthday tomorrow (Thursday, local time), and to mark the occasion the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released a new photo of the not-so-little prince.

The photo, taken by his mother Catherine, shows George posing in front of what appears to be his late great-grandfather Prince Philip’s Land Rover. George, who’s smiling from ear to ear, is pictured wearing a navy and orange striped polo shirt and navy shorts.

The eldest of the Cambridge children, Prince George was born on July 22, 2013, in the prestigious Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital, in London. He has two younger siblings, six-year-old Princess Charlotte and three-year-old Prince Louis.

“Turning eight(!) tomorrow,” William and Catherine captioned the post.

Many royal watchers wished the prince a happy birthday, with one writing: “Happy Birthday, Prince George! The world loves you!”

Others commented on how much George is starting to look like his dad. One commented: “Looks like William so much.”

Another said: “Looking more and more like his dad.” While a third wrote: “He looks like William.”

For George’s seventh birthday, his parents released two new photos of the prince. Both photographs showed the third-in-line to the British throne enjoying time outdoors.

The new photo comes one week after the prince was captured enthusiastically cheering on his team at the UEFA Euro 2020 finals on video. The widely-shared video showed the then seven-year-old clapping and laughing after England scored a goal in the opening minutes. He also excitedly hugged both his parents. England ended up losing to Italy 2-3 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw.
