Sophie Wessex is often dubbed one of the hardest working members of the royal family, and that’s certainly rung true during the pandemic, with the 55-year-old stepping in to help those in need with numerous volunteering duties.

From preparing food for emergency service workers at the frontline of the crisis, to packing parcels of goods for those self-isolating, Sophie hasn’t taken any downtime over these past few months. And this week, she was out again, assisting The Saints Foundation – the official charity of the Southhampton Football Club, which helps provide support for those of all ages throughout the community.

With her high-vis jacket on, Sophie was put to work with the FareShare service, helping to pack goods for the disadvantaged, while also assisting the prescription delivery service.

“We were delighted to be joined by HRH The Countess of Wessex this week, who volunteered with us at @fareshareuk and on our Prescription Delivery Service,” a post published to The Saints Foundation’s Instagram page. “A real privilege to show @theroyalfamily how we are transforming lives in and around Southhampton.”

Photos showed Sophie beaming as she packed goods into a crate ready for delivery and mingled with other volunteers who have been assisting with the services. She looked lovely in a cream long-sleeve top and black pants, while she kept her blonde locks down and straight during her volunteering duties.

The countess’ appearance at the charity comes days after she spoke out about Prince Harry and Meghan’s decision to step back as senior royals in a rare interview with the UK’s Sunday Times. When asked about the sussex’s shock departure from the royal family in January, Sophie replied: “I just hope they will be happy. We all try to help any new members of the family.”

Sophie noted that she had much more time to adjust to royal life than Meghan did. “Remember I’d had five years to adjust,” the mother-of-two said of her and Edward’s long relationship. “And for our six-month engagement, I was even staying at Buckingham Palace. Not that you necessarily know how it will pan out.”

Sophie also revealed it’s “highly unlikely” her children – Lady Louise Windsor, 16, and James, Viscount Severn, 12, – will use their HRH titles as adults.

“We try to bring them up with the understanding they are very likely to have to work for a living,” she explained. “Hence, we made the decision not to use HRH titles. They have them and can decide to use them from 18, but I think it’s highly unlikely.”
