Princess Mary and family make waves in Sydney Harbour

Share:
The family is coming down under for the holiday season.

Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik have made a splash in Sydney as they start their holiday in Australia with style.

The royals arrived in Australia on Tuesday and have started their holiday sailing in Sydney Harbour and enjoying the warm Aussie sun.

Both keen sailors, Mary and Frederik enjoyed their afternoon on the famous 100-foot Sydney to Hobart supermaxi Wild Oats, owned by Sydney businessman Sandy Oatley.

Mary looked laid back in a red polo shirt and cap and her husband Frederik was relaxed in reflective blue sunglasses and a black cap.

The pair chatted with Sandy Oatley on board and Mary had her camera ready, taking a few pictures of Sydney’s stunning harbour.

Sailing and Sydney both hold a special place in the royal couple’s hearts. The pair met during the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and early in their relationship, the Tasmanian born beauty beat the Crown Prince 2-1 in a sailing race off Sydney Heads.

The couple is expected to catch up with their many friends in Sydney before heading to Mary’s home state of Tasmania to celebrate Christmas with her family.

The pair met at the Slip Inn pub near King Street Wharf while Frederik was in town supporting team Denmark for the Olympics. After a brief attempt at a long-distance relationship, Mary moved to Copenhagen to be with her prince and the pair married in 2004. The couple have four children named Christian, Isabella, Vincent and Josephine.

The Danish Palace has remained mostly tight lipped about the couple’s plans while they’re Down Under, only revealing they will be spending Christmas with Mary’s father.

No doubt they’ll enjoy their time with their Aussie family and soak up that blistering Australian sun.

Are you looking forward to seeing what Princess Mary does on her trip? If you went to Sydney what would be the first thing you would do?
