In celebration of Sarah Ferguson’s 65th birthday, her daughter Princess Eugenie has delivered a moving message to mark the occasion, calling her mum “an inspiration” and thanking her for her “incredible support”.

Eugenie delivered the touching birthday wishes on Instagram, alongside a series of heartfelt images of Ferguson spending time with her grandkids and another alongside her two daughters.

“Happy birthday to my beautiful mumma,” Eugenie wrote.

“So proud of the Grannie you are, the mum you are and the woman you are.

“You’re an inspiration and our endless chats bring me so much happiness and incredible support.”

The birthday wishes were not just confined to Princess Eugenie with her post triggering a flood of well wishes for Ferguson on her special day.

“Happy birthday wonderful Fergie,” one wrote.

“Happy birthday to your lovely mama 🎂🎁🥳 hope she has a lovely day celebrating.”

“Happy birthday have a brilliant day,” commented another.

“This is why you endured the trials and tribulations of life so that you could have those happy moments with your grandchildren and your sweet grandchildren. And there are more to come.”

The birthday celebrations will likely be a welcomed distraction for Ferguson who has recently endured a series of health battles.

After triumphing over breast cancer, Ferguson was faced with another health obstacle when she received the diagnosis of a malignant melanoma.

The Duchess of York was delivered the unfortunate news after she had multiple moles removed and analysed when she underwent reconstructive surgery following her mastectomy, with one mole found to be cancerous.

In an emotional Instagram post, the Duchess revealed the diagnosis had come as a “shock” while thanking those who had sent their well wishes.

“I have been taking some time to myself as I have been diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a form of skin cancer, my second cancer diagnosis within a year after I was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer and underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. It was thanks to the great vigilance of my dermatologist that the melanoma was detected when it was,” she wrote at the time.

“Naturally another cancer diagnosis has been a shock but I’m in good spirits and grateful for the many messages of love and support.

“I believe my experience underlines the importance of checking the size, shape, colour and texture and emergence of new moles that can be a sign of melanoma and urge anyone who is reading this to be diligent.

“I am incredibly thankful to the medical teams that have supported me through both of these experiences with cancer and to the MAYRLIFE Clinic for taking gentle care of me in the past weeks, allowing me time for recuperation. I am resting with family at home now, feeling blessed to have their love and support.”

Fortunately, Ferguson was recently given the all-clear by doctors that the cancer had not spread.
