Royal watchers have commended Princess Anne for her return to the Olympic stage, with one commentator hailing her as a “trooper” for resuming public duties after recovering from a head injury.
Speaking to GB News royal commentator Michael Cole praised the Princess following her appearance at the Paris Games where she awarded Great Britain swimmer Adam Peaty his silver medal.
While the Princess Royal does not remember the incident that caused her to be rushed to hospital on June 24, doctors said her injuries were consistent with impact from a horse’s head or legs.
“She certainly collided with a horse and she sustained a concussion,” Cole said.
“Now, concussion is never a trivial matter. It’s a serious matter.
But, he added, “she’s a trooper. She’s 73 at the moment, and she was an Olympian herself”.
He also pointed out this was not the first time the royal was injured by a horse.
“She competed at the Montreal Olympics, which I think was in 1986, and she fell off a horse and she was quite badly injured, but she got up and got back on,” he recalled.
“She also had a similar experience at the World Championships in Kiev.”
Following a quick recovery from her latest injury, Anne quickly returned to public duties after a brief stay in hospital.
The Princess made her welcome return to the public eye on Friday, July 12, attending the Riding for the Disabled Association National Championships held in western England.
The horse-loving royal has been a patron of the charity for over five decades and has served as its president since 1986.
Royal fans were thrilled to see Princess Anne return to her public duties, with many eagerly welcoming the beloved royal back to the public eye.
“Thank God she’s healing and looking fabulous, I will add.”
“Good to see the Princess Royal back,” commented another.
“Can’t keep a good woman down, welcome back Anne.”
Anne’s return to public duties so soon should come as no surprise given her commitment to her royal duties and her reputation as the hardest-working member of the Royal Family.
According to a report from The Telegraph earlier this year, Princess Anne had attended 457 engagements in the past year.
This places her as the busiest member of her family for the third consecutive year, surpassing even King Charles, who had attended 425 engagements at the time in his new role.
