More than five decades since she won her first Grammy, award-winning music legend, Joni Mitchell, will take to the stage at the 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony for the very first time.
The 80-year-old music doyenne will perform alongside veterans U2 and Billy Joel and spring chickens Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish.
Loyal fans of Mitchell were quick to respond expressing their excitement that the singer is being honoured at the iconic music awards.
Not only is Mitchell gracing the awards ceremony with her performance, but she also won the coveted title of Best Folk Album with her outstanding live recording, Joni Mitchell at Newport.
The compilation is a live album by the singer-songwriter which she released on July 28, 2023. The album contains her entire performance at the 2022 Newport Folk Festival.
The win is her second one in recent years. In 2022 she won the award for Best Historical Album. This was a rare public appearance after Mitchell suffered an aneurysm in early 2015.
After this ordeal the singer was unable to speak but gradually made a full recovery.
Evidently she did not let the scare put her off and her enduring legacy despite her health challenges continues to resonate with people around the world, solidifying her status as one of the world’s most influential and revered musicians.
