Music fans around the world were heartbroken when superstar Tina Tuner died. Dubbed “the queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll” fans and fellow musicians paid their respects to the legendary singer while celebrating her immeasurable impact on the world of music.
Now, in a twist that is almost as extraordinary as her life, an unheard track Turner recorded decades ago will be played for the first time on an upcoming BBC radio show that will celebrate her breakthrough album, Private Dancer.
Hot For You Baby is being released as part of a 40th anniversary edition of Turner’s solo breakthrough album, Private Dancer, which was nominated for album of the year at the 1985 Grammys and featured the Grammy-winning songs What’s Love Got To Do With It and Better Be Good To Me.
The re-release will also feature other previously unreleased tracks, live performances, and footage.
Turner was 83 years old and was considered one of music’s greatest voices when she died peacefully at her home in Switzerland in 2023.
Her path to fame began when she joined Ike Turner’s band as a backup singer. It wasn’t long before her incredible vocal abilities and undeniable stage presence caught the attention of both audiences and the music industry. The duo quickly rose to fame as Ike & Tina Turner, captivating crowds with their electrifying performances that blended rock, soul, and rhythm and blues.
Over time, Turner’s boundless talent demanded recognition in its own right, and her solo career soared to amazing heights. With a signature mix of rock, soul, and blues, she amazed fans worldwide. Hits such as What’s Love Got to Do with It, Private Dancer, and Simply the Best showcased her commanding voice, earning her countless accolades, including numerous Grammy Awards and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
She was survived by her husband Erwin Bach and her adopted sons Ike Turner Jr and Michael.
