Fans of singing sensation John Farnham are no doubt overjoyed after it was revealed that the entertainment legend is now “cancer free” and has even started singing again.
In August 2022, the singing icon behind the chart-topping anthem You’re The Voice underwent surgery and treatment for mouth cancer. Sadly, Farnham experienced a setback when he was readmitted to the hospital in late March of this year due to a respiratory infection.
Now almost a year on from his shocking diagnosis, Farnham’s son, Robert, has offered a promising update on his father’s road to recovery, adding that Farnham is “doing really good”.
“He’s doing fantastic,” he said during a recent appearance on Sunrise.
“Just the other day he was, you know, walking around with his cane and did a little bit of a dance, which was pretty fabulous.
“He’s walking with his dog a lot — so he’s really, really happy.
“He’s doing really good, he’s super positive.
“Like we’ve said before, cancer is a terrible, terrible thing. And it’s his time to walk that road, but he’s cancer free.”
Not only has Farnham triumphed over cancer, but fans will certainly be overjoyed to hear that he has begun belting out the tunes once again at home.
“And, yeah, he’s doing really, really good. So, it’s very, very good to hear him,” Robert revealed.
“He sings at home again, the whole thing.”
In addition to his positive health news, Farnham recently had further cause to celebrate following his 74th birthday.
To celebrate the special occasion, Farnham’s son, James, took to social media to express his love and admiration for his legendary father alongside a series of throwback photos from a father and son trip to Africa.
“Happy Birthday Dad,” he wrote.
“You just had one of the hardest 12 months, and you smashed it! It doesn’t matter if it’s a concert stage or the stage of life, you always give it everything no matter what! I’m so thankful for that. You’re an inspiration to me and I’m sure many others. Thanks for everything. You’re the greatest and today is all about you!!
“Love ya heaps and heaps!!”
Fans quickly came together to celebrate Farnham’s birthday while praising James for his kind words.
Affectionately known as “The Voice”, Farnham is considered by many as one of Australia’s most iconic singers. The legendary performer has captured the hearts of fans for decades with his powerhouse vocals and stellar live performances.
