David Cassidy’s family are locked in a dispute over his ashes as they continue to be kept in a cremation unit more than six months after he died, it has been claimed.
According to US site TMZ, the Partridge Family star’s ex girlfriend Maura Rossi is upset his remains are still being kept in storage, and it’s reportedly distressed her so much she’s now unable to sleep or eat.
However, sources told the site the plan all along was to wait until the US summer in just a few months time to spread the late star’s ashes at Saratoga Racecourse in Saratoga Springs, New York, somewhere that was always close to his heart.
Cassidy died in November last year at the age of 67 as a result of liver failure. He was cremated shortly afterwards. The site claims Rossi now feels shunned by his family, and thinks it’s disrespectful to keep his ashes in storage for so long.

The racecourse is set to host a memorial race in Cassidy’s honour on August 18, but it’s unclear if the family plan to wait until then to scatter his remains.
Cassidy’s family released an exclusive statement to People to announce the star’s passing in November, remembering him as “a father, an uncle and a dear brother”.
“David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long. Thank you for the abundance and support you have shown him these many years.” the statement read.
Just weeks later it was revealed he had deliberately left his daughter out of his will and bequeathed his entire estate to his son, Beau, instead.
A copy of Cassidy’s final will, obtained by The Beast, showed the actor left $150,000 to Beau Cassidy, 26, and specifically excluded his daughter 31-year-old Katie.
“All references in this trust to my ‘child or children’ are to Beau Devin Cassidy and such references shall not include Katherine Evelyn Cassidy no any descendent of Katherine Evelyn Cassidy,” the will read.
“It is my specific intent not to provide any benefits hereunder to Katherine Evelyn Cassidy and/or any descendant of Katherine Evelyn Cassidy.”
It came just weeks after Katie posted a touching message on social media following her father’s death, saying: “Words cant express the solace our family’s received from all the love & support during this trying time”.
