Bindi Irwin has shared a touching tribute to her late father, Steve Irwin, who would have turned 60 today, February 22.

Bindi took to Instagram to celebrate her late father’s birthday, posting a throwback picture of herself as a young girl standing next to a crouching Steve as he held up a long earthworm. The close father and daughter duo had their arms around each other as they shared a moment of love and a shared passion for wildlife.

In the caption, Bindi swore to teach her young daughter, Grace Warrior, 10 months, of Steve’s incredible life and legacy.

“Happy birthday to the greatest dad and Wildlife Warrior. Today I’ll watch ‘The Crocodile Hunter’ with Grace Warrior and share stories about her incredible Grandpa crocodile. I love you with all my heart. Your legacy lives on,” Bindi captioned the post, referring to her late father’s well-known moniker as ‘The Crocodile Hunter’.

Fans were touched by the post, commenting messages of love and support for Bindi and her family as well as wishing her late father the happiest of birthdays.

This isn’t the first time Bindi has paid special tribute to her late father, taking to Twitter on September 4, 2021 to share a heartwarming post where she referred to Steve as her young daughter’s “guardian angel”. She posted a photo of her adorable daughter wearing a mini ‘Australia Zoo’ button-up shirt, alongside another picture of a young Bindi picking shells on the beach with her dad.

“This sweetheart lights up seeing her ‘Grandpa Crocodile’ on screen. I wish that Dad could hug my beautiful girl. It’s been 15 years since he passed away. I hold on to the thought that he’s her guardian angel now, watching over the most special part of my life, Grace,” she wrote.

Wildlife conservationist, Steve Irwin, famously died on September 4, 2006, after he was struck in the heart by a short-tail stingray whilst filming for Ocean’s Deadliest in Batt Reef, Far North Queensland.

His death shocked the world, with fans, friends and family completely devastated by the sudden loss of the famous ‘Crocodile Hunter’.

After his death, Steve’s family including his wife Terri and two children, Bindi and Robert, ensured his legacy lived on, maintaining and running the family zoo and continuing Steve’s mission of ‘Conservation Through Exciting Education’.

Bindi met her now-husband Chandler in November 2013 whilst he was touring Australia for a wakeboarding competition. The pair were married on March 25, 2020 and have since given birth to their daughter Grace.
