Sharon Stone has gone full “Hollywood” for her 65th birthday, using the special day to show off her oversized red lips.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, March 10, the Basic Instinct star shared a series of photos of herself with her “new” pout, writing: ” I did it. Finally. For my birthday I went Hollywood. Sometimes u get EXACTLY what u wish for.”
In the photo, Stone is wearing black and white polka-dot pyjamas with big black framed glasses. She poses next to a handful of big red birthday balloons, with her bright lips, courtesy of the cherry-flavoured lolly, Wax Lips, on full display.
Many of Stone’s followers left comments on her post admitting that they were initially tricked by her photo, while others played along with the joke leaving their own light-hearted message for the star.
“When I first looked at this I thought ‘why is Sharon Stone posting pictures of Courtney Love?!'”
“You can barely tell the difference. Nicely done.”
“Good lord for 5 seconds I panicked! too funny!”
“I would go for a bit more… but I understand you wanted to look as natural as possible!!! Maybe you can have a little top up next time.”
“Don’t make me laugh this hard ..you’re gonna break my Botox!!!!”
“Your mouth has its own ID now. Happy Birthday Lady.”
“Can’t quite pinpoint it, but I think you’ve changed your hair?”
The actress’ lighthearted birthday post comes after Stone had previously opened up about her relationship with cosmetic procedures.
Last September, for her cover story on Vogue Arabia, Stone admitted she had previously dabbled in botox and skin rejuvenation treatments in the past until she stopped after suffering a near-fatal brain aneurysm back in 2001.
“There were periods in the super fame when I got Botox and filler and stuff,” she told the magazine.
“And then I had this massive stroke and a nine-day brain hemorrhage and I had to have over 300 shots of Botox and filler to make the one side of my face come up again.”
The Golden Globe winner explained how her stroke completely shifted her views on botox, saying that it made her realise these procedures went from being a “cute luxury to some kind of massive, painful neurological need.”
Since then Stone has held a firm view against cosmetic procedures and insists she hasn’t gone under the knife since.
“I can’t tell you how many doctors try to sell me a facelift. I’ve even gone as far as having someone talk me into it, but when I went over and looked at pictures of myself, I thought, what are they going to lift?” she said.
“Yes, I have come close – but frankly, I think that in the art of ageing well, there’s this sexuality to having those imperfections. It’s sensual.”
