Usually the picture of beauty and grace, Salma Hayek has revealed an awkward predicament she was ‘caught’ in at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night, February 27.

Posting to Instagram on Tuesday, March 1, Hayek shared a hilarious video of herself and SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher. In the video, and indeed at the awards, Hayek was wearing a gorgeous Grecian inspired frock with hair in a tousled pony, and stunning, dramatic makeup. The salmon pink number and colour matched, sheer Gucci gloves were a killer combination for the Desperado star, however, they did present an awkward issue…

They got stuck on Fran Drescher’s dress! Drescher’s look, an otherwise simple, form-fitting ink blue dress, with a slight train, and billowy, floor touching sleeve-trains, featured gorgeous silver diamante beading around the strapless neckline. It was this beading that literally hooked Hayek to Drescher.

In the video Hayek posted, Drescher talks to the camera saying “I can’t even believe it, are you videotaping this? Oh my god.”

As Hayek is carefully unpicked from Drescher’s dress. Drescher then goes on to compliment Hayek on her performance in the 2021 film House Of Gucci. Drescher praises Hayek’s performance saying she was brilliant and fearless. Drescher also said that she loves that Hayek and herself always “randomly run into each other”, as they did in this very instance. Drescher posted a shorter cut of this same video to her Instagram account on the same day.

This encounter was made more awkward, as Hayek was caught just minutes before she was needed on stage to present the SAG Award for Actor. After Hayek rushed on stage to present the award, which went to Michael Keaton for his role in the Hulu series Dopestick, another awkward moment occurred. Keaton was missing! Or so it seemed.

Hayek exclaimed “Are you kidding me? I have stage fright … Come on Michael! Come on Michael!”

Keaton eventually burst onto the stage, saying “Thank you very much … Sorry! Quick trip to the men’s room. It was packed, by the way. This is so nice, thank you very much. Really, I’m truly grateful.”

Keaton’s hilarious quip about bathroom dilemmas would have struck quite the nerve with Hayek after her gripping experience just minutes earlier, however, Keaton’s speech then took a sharp emotional turn, with Keaton dedicating his Award to his late nephew.

“I am blessed to be able to do something that might improve someone’s life. I’m the most fortunate person,” Keaton said. “Mostly, given the subject matter, this is for my nephew Michael and my sister Pam. I lost my nephew Michael to drugs, and it hurts.”
