Bindi Irwin is welcoming turning 24 with a grateful heart and a dramatic new look.

Bindi, the eldest child of Australian icon Steve Irwin, celebrated her special day with an intimate family gathering on Sunday, July 24.

The Australia Zoo heiress shared a series of photos from the day on her Instagram page showing her mother Terri Irwin, younger brother Robert, husband Chandler Powell and their 1-year-old daughter Grace, enjoying a simple picnic on a hill overlooking the Sunshine Coast hinterlands.

Bindi also took the opportunity to debut her new look, as the wildlife warrior chopped her famous long locks and is now rocking a shoulder-length bob.

In the photo, Bindi and Chandler pose with their daughter in front of a white two-tiered cake adorned with pink floral frosting. The Crikey! It’s the Irwins star also swapped her Australia Zoo khakis for a more laid-back look, paring a baby pink flannel with some light-washed blue jeans.

The mother of one also shared a shot of her alongside her mother as Robert made a silly pose in the background with his guitar.

Bindi penned an emotional message alongside the caption, sharing that the past year had been filled with “enormous growth, unpredictable/challenging times” and love beyond her “wildest dreams”.

“I’m grateful for another trip around the sun and another year to do the best making a difference in this world,” she wrote, thanking her family for giving her the “greatest gifts this year through their extraordinary actions each and every day”.

She thanked her in-laws for the “gift of no distance” and her mum for the “gift of perseverance, strength and a shoulder to lean on. She also celebrated her younger brother for giving her “enthusiasm for life and remembering not to sweat the little things.”

“My husband, the gift of steadfast support and infinite kindness,” she continued, paying homage to her husband who she married in 2020.

“My darling daughter, the gift of finding beauty in all things and running towards happiness (and bubbles, which are the same thing to her) with an open heart. I’m grateful for another trip around the sun and another year to do my best making difference in this world.”

But Bindi wasn’t the only one who had sweet words to share for her birthday. Her family had also taken to social media to show their love for the eldest Irwin.

Chandler shared three sets of pictures of his wife also taken from her birthday picnic and wrote: “Happy birthday to the most incredible person I know. You spend every day of the year thinking about others, I’m so happy that today is about celebrating you. You are the most kind-hearted person, caring mama, loving wife and my best friend. I love you(and so does Grace).”

Her mother, Terri, shared a sweet throwback photo on Twitter of her eldest child alongside her late husband Steve.

Finally, her younger brother Robert shared a photo of himself posing next to his sister who he called a “legend”.

“Thanks for being someone I can always count on for advice, support, kindness and a good laugh,” he wrote. “Bindi you are an absolute boss! Hard worker, amazing sister and such a wonderful mum to Grace, she is a lucky kid! love you.”
