The 30th anniversary of the opening of Carinity Brownesholme retirement village was celebrated with a gathering of residents, family members, friends, and invited guests.
Before she passed away in 1985, Isobel ‘Molly’ Browne bequeathed her 120-acre property to the Baptist Union of Queensland, to be developed into a retirement village and aged care home.
Ten years after Molly’s passing, the purpose-built Brownesholme residential lifestyle community for retirees was opened in mid-1995.
In recognition of Molly’s selfless gesture to support local seniors, a special sign designed by Brownesholme resident Eunice Brumpton was revealed at the 30-year celebration.
The sign was unveiled by Carinity CEO, Kevin Griffiths, and Toowoomba Region Councillor, Kerry Shine, who officially opened new stages of the retirement village more than 20 years ago.
The artwork depicts Molly Browne on her farm with elements including a cow and the windmill from her property, which still stands on the
Brownesholme site.
Molly Browne’s vision for seniors’ care catering to all ages was fully realised in 2021, when the Carinity Brownesholme residential aged care home was
opened next to the retirement village.
