British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his fiancee Carrie Symonds have given the world the first glimpse of their baby boy. On Saturday, the couple announced the name of their new baby son on Instagram alongside a photo of Carrie cradling the newborn.

The little tot has been named Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, and it bears a special tribute. Wilfred was given the middle name Nicholas in honor of two doctors who treated Boris while he suffered from coronavirus last month.

“Introducing Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson born on 29.04.20 at 9am,” Carrie Symonds wrote on her private Instagram account Saturday.

“Wilfred after Boris’ grandfather, Lawrie after my grandfather, Nicholas after Dr Nick Price and Dr Nick Hart — the two doctors that saved Boris’ life last month.

“Thank you so, so much to the incredible NHS maternity team at UCLH that looked after us so well. I couldn’t be happier. My heart is full.”

Sarah Ferguson posted a sweet message congratulating the couple on the arrival of their son Wilfred, sharing the gorgeous photo of Carrie holding her newborn, taken from the communications exec’s private Instagram account.

The couple announced on Wednesday that Carrie had given birth to a baby boy earlier that day. “The prime minister and Ms Symonds are thrilled to announce the birth of a healthy baby boy at a London hospital earlier this morning,” a spokeswoman for the PM and his partner said, according to the BBC. “The PM and Ms Symonds would like to thank the fantastic NHS maternity team.”

The couple, who are believed to have been an item since 2018, announced their engagement and pregnancy in March. According to the BBC, Carrie shared the happy news on her private Instagram account as she revealed they not only had a wedding to look forward to in the near future, but also their first child together.

The news comes just a few days after the prime minister returned to Downing Street following his battle with Covid-19. The Conservative leader was diagnosed with the virus at the end of March and underwent treatment at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, including a stint in intensive care after his symptoms worsened.
