It’s safe to say many people around the world have the famous rom-com Love Actually on repeat at this time of year.

And it seems the Australian Federal Police are also fans of the festive flick. They’ve just released a Christmas video in the style of the iconic Andrew Lincoln and Keira Knightley cue card scene, which mentions some of the year’s best Australian moments. Of course, the Bunnings sausage scandal that made headlines around the country earlier this year received a nod.

The hilarious clip starts off with an officer holding a cue card which reads “relax, I’m not a stripper. With any luck, by next year, we’ll be seeing more of this… “, before showing several images of officers doing good deeds.

He then goes on: “But for now, let us say… we love Australia.”

The officer then goes on to list everything he loves about Australia including “the people and the scenery”, “a snag at Bunnings (onion side down of course)” and “our unofficial nation anthem” — a.k.a Daryl Braithwaite’s ‘The Horses’.

He then goes on to highlight the things Australians don’t love including “paying for tomato sauce”.

The video was posted on Wednesday and has already racked up almost 500,000 views. Not surprisingly, Aussies are loving it, with many commentating on how great the video clip is.

“I’m dying this is legitimately the best thing I’ve seen,” one commentator wrote.

Another added, “Clever well done guys,” while a third wrote: “Love it! Great work guys.”

“This was actually really sweet. Merry Christmas AFP from our family to yours. Thank you for all that you do to keep us safe,” another commentator said.

If the video wasn’t enough, the caption was also a nod to Love Actually

“We feel it in our fingers, We feel it in our toes,” the caption read. “Christmas is all around us, Here’s some love from the Po-Po.”

This isn’t the first video that’s poked fun at Australian culture. Earlier this year, a New Zealand comedian poked fun at the country’s deadly wildlife in a hilarious mock tourism advert — and even Aussies are seeing the funny side.

Chris Drabble uploaded a video which included him joking that there’s “no prettier place to perish than Queensland”, before poking fun at crocodiles, stingrays, snakes and spiders.

“Welcome to North Queensland Australia. Fancy a swim in a tropical paradise?” Chris said in the video. “You can’t do that here because there’s crocodiles. Oh but don’t worry, they’ve made a sign.”

Dressed in the stereotypical Aussie attire of shorts, singlet and a bush hat, Chris goes on to poke fun at the state’s seemingly relaxed approach to keeping tourists safe.

Did you find the video funny? What’s your favourite Christmas ad or video?
