It’s no secret toothpaste will keep your teeth sparkling clean, but did you know this popular item is also a great cleaning agent?

That’s right, from removing hard-to-clean stains to defogging bathroom mirrors, toothpaste boasts an array of household uses.

Read on to find out how to make the most of your toothpaste! (Keep in mind that the hacks below are intended for plain, white toothpaste.)

Remove hard-to-clean stains

Clothing stain on your favourite shirt? No problem! Toothpaste is actually great at removing stains. With a clean, damp cloth, add a little bit of toothpaste and gently rub until the stain disappears, then wash as usual. If the stain doesn’t come out at first go, repeat if necessary!

Clean jewellery

From gold chains to diamond rings, you can pretty much clean anything with toothpaste! With an old toothbrush, add a drop of toothpaste and scrub gently, then rinse clean with warm water — it’s that easy!

Floor scuff marks

Floor scuff marks are pretty common, especially if you don’t remove your shoes before going inside. With a damp cloth or old toothbrush, gently rub each mark with toothpaste, then wipe clean and the scuff marks should disappear completely.

Remove carpet stain

Carpet stains are a nightmare to get out, but luckily some stains can be removed with toothpaste. Instead of hiring out a professional for one small stain, just apply toothpaste directly to the stain and give it a really good scrub with a clean brush, then sponge with water!

Banish drink rings

No one likes nasty drink rings left behind on their coffee table. To remove ring stains, add a little bit of toothpaste directly to the stained surface and gently rub with a damp cloth until it’s all gone, then wipe off any excess toothpaste.

Remove hair colour stains

If you’ve recently been to the hairdressers and some leftover hair colour has managed to get onto your skin, don’t fret! You can apply a bit of toothpaste to the stain and rub until the colour has disappeared. Once all the hair colour has been successfully removed, wipe off with a damp cloth.

Defog bathroom mirror

Turns out toothpaste can be used to defog glass, even before a shower! Spread a bit of toothpaste onto the mirror and wipe away with a clean cloth. The toothpaste will work as an anti-fogger and keep your mirror from fogging next time you shower — it’s absolutely brilliant!
