The Countess of Wessex made history on Wednesday as the first member of the royal family to wear a jumpsuit at Royal Ascot.

Stepping out in the aquamarine pleated number, Prince Edward’s wife looked beautiful and elegant as she enjoyed festivities on day two of the glamorous race at the Ascot Racecourse.

Jumpsuits were only introduced to the royal enclosure last year and Sophie pulled it off with much confidence and grace.

Following the same colour scheme, the Countess paired the Emilia Wickstead design, which retails for AU$3,500, with an aquamarine hat, black heels and a black clutch.

Not to take away from the simple yet stylish number, the mother of two went for simple gold bracelets and earrings to pull the outfit together.

While she was spot on with her choice of outfit, according to The Daily Mail it wasn’t all good news for the Countess who didn’t fair so well with the horses.

Unfortunately, one of the horses lost out to Poet’s Word in the Prince of Wales Stakes, while the other had a slow day on the course, coming in second to last.

Other members of the royal family joining Sophie at the event including the Queen, who looked very much the part in a pale blue outfit and hat which also featured beautiful pink peonies.

Beaming as she entered the event on her traditional carriage procession, she was clearly enjoying what is known to be one of her favourite events of the year.

Prince Charles and wife Camilla also stepped out, with Camilla sporting a green coat with a white trim paired with a beautiful white hat.

This was the second time the Duchess of Cornwall has worn the stunning number, debuting the outfit last month at a Buckingham Palace Garden party for Prince Charles’ 70th birthday.
