Sophie Wessex is often described as one of the hardest working members of the royal family, and she’s certainly proved that amid the pandemic, stepping out for the second time during the coronavirus outbreak to lend a hand to those in need during these trying times.

The 55-year-old and her husband Prince Edward joined a team of volunteers this past week to help pack goods for people self-isolating, who’ve been unable to step outside the house themselves to gather necessities. Again Sophie perfected the classy, but casual look for the outing, wearing a vibrant blue blouse paired with white pants. Meanwhile, her blonde locks were styled in a half-up, half-down hair-do to keep the flyaways out of her face while she packed food.

The Countess and Earl of Wessex were just some of many volunteers at the Shah Jahan Mosque, helping out with a food delivery service which has been running throughout the Covid-19 outbreak to support those in the community. In photos shared to the royal family’s Instagram page Sophie and Edward could be seen hard at work, packing food into boxes and learning about the difficulties of Ramadan for Muslims this year.

“Ramadan has been very different this year due to the Covid-19 outbreak, however these challenges have not stopped communities coming together to help those in need,” the post read. “The Working Mosque is running a 24-hour service offering food parcels to those self-isolating, NHS workers and families in need of support.

“Donations from the mosque, local churches and supermarkets are keeping the service going, with people of all faiths coming together to volunteer – so far the initiative has helped over 400 local households.”

Sophie and Edward also shared a special message during their visit to the mosque, which has since been published to the royal family’s YouTube channel. The royal couple thanked everyone for their support during the crisis and said it was wonderful to see everyone coming together to help one another.

“We are delighted to be here at the working mosque and we’ve been learning how the community have really been holding out the hand of friendship to everybody in the working community, supporting people through this crisis,” Sophie said. “We thank you so much for all the efforts that you’ve made.”

While Edward added: “Yes, we owe you a huge thank you for all that you’ve been doing across the whole community and we wish you an Eid Mubarak.”

Royal fans have since thanked the couple for their kind gesture amid the pandemic, with many taking to social media to share their well wishes to the hardworking royals.

“It’s so nice to see Edward and Sophie sharing the limelight,” @hm.thequeen_ wrote on Instagram. “Great gesture on the part of the royals on this occasion. Thanks a lot,” @fidasyed1954 said. While @lipwr added: “Proud of you.”
