Unlike her more traditional royal counterparts, Queen Letizia of Spain is never one to shy away from a fashion-forward frock and she proved so once again in a red ensemble at an awards ceremony in Spain on Thursday.

The 46-year-old upped the royal style stakes in the red skirt and matching blouse, which featured a stylish high-neck and puff sleeves, for the National Fashion Awards in Madrid.

She teamed the bold outfit with a pair of red heels and a co-ordinating clutch. Wearing her brunette locks out in soft waves, the mother-of-two finished off the stylish look with a pair of statement red earrings.

Letizia appears to adhere to the idea of getting the most out of your garments — no matter how much money you might have. The fashionable royal recycled the vintage blouse and skirt that once belonged to her mother-in-law, Queen Sofia, who was last pictured wearing it back in 1980.

The National Fashion Industry Awards, which first launched five years ago, aim to emphasise the prestige of the country’s fashion industry and are promoted by Spain’s ministry of industry, commerce and tourism.

The royal has had a busy schedule over the past week. Letizia recently stepped out in a stylish polka dot frock to attend an awards ceremony in Madrid on Monday.

In 2017, both Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI made quite the impression in Spain when they assisted victims of last year’s deadly Barcelona terror attacks. The Spanish royals visited the Mar de Barcelona hospital, where they spent time with hundreds of victims who were injured when a van purposely hit pedestrians along the bustling Las Ramblas boulevard.

The Queen in particular spent plenty of time with children impacted by those attacks and was praised at the time for how she interacted with the kids. A mother of 12-year-old Princess Leonor and 11-year-old Princess Sofia, Letizia melted hearts when she crouched down to speak individually to the kids and when she shook their hands and showered them in affection.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the Spanish Royals? Who is your favourite royal family member?
