She’s 74 years young and Priscilla Presley has shown once again that she’s still got it when it comes to fashion. The former wife of Elvis Presley was spotted in New York City earlier this week in a classy yet stylish outfit that any over-60 woman could pull together.

The actress was in the Big Apple to appear on the US version of Today, where she spoke about Elvis and the 42nd anniversary of his death. For her appearance, the mother-of-two opted for a simple black skirt and shirt combo.

These clothing items are something most women have in their closet, but Priscilla showed just how easy it is to make any standard outfit pop. She teamed her chic look with a white jacket, complete with a bright pink and purple floral pattern.

Accessorising with a colourful pair of heels, a trendy pair of sunglasses and black purse, the Dallas star added her own unique style to the outfit. She wore her luscious red locks in curls for the appearance and opted for a bright lipstick to finish off her look.

During the interview, Priscilla explained that fans were gathering in Graceland to mark 42 years since the world lost the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll – an annual tradition for fans to celebrate the life and music of Elvis.

“People just want more and more and more,” she told the show’s hosts. “They can’t get enough so it’s really trying to fill the askings of the public who want to see what we have going.”

She said her late ex-husband wouldn’t believe that people still cared about him more than four decades after his death and admitted that she gets emotional when she sees fans gathering in droves to celebrate the singer. The celebration at Graceland includes concerts, vigils, food events and stories told by those who knew Elvis the most.

During the interview, she also revealed that her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, was “doing well” and said that she thought her grandchildren were very talented.

“They were in ballet and dance class and opera, so they’re testing the waters a little bit,” she said, while also revealing that Elvis’ family is very involved in the upcoming Baz Lurhman biopic about the late musician.

“Baz has been over to my home a couple of times for lunch with his beautiful wife and we talk about all the wonderful things he wants to do with the film,” she said. “It’s going to be a very interesting picture.

“Of course with Baz, it’s going to be stylised very different and I think a different take, so something quite honest and we’re looking forward to it.”

Streaming service Netflix also revealed on Friday that Priscilla and singer John Eddie have created a new animated series for adults about Elvis’ life. The show, which doesn’t yet have a release date, is described as “an animated adult action comedy featuring Elvis Presley as a covert government agent who fights to keep America safe while also maintaining his cover as the King of Rock & Roll”.

Meanwhile, this year’s candlelight vigil for Elvis has already occurred in Graceland, with photos from the moving event shared on social media and fans explaining what the experience meant to them. One person on Facebook wrote: “How many other entertainers will have hundreds of thousands of people visiting their home 42 years after their passing?”

Another said: “Lovely to see so many young ones still love him,” while a third added: “You will always mean so much to me. You are a big part of me always. I love you and miss you Elvis.”
