She usually shies away from the spotlight these days, but Meg Ryan is back in action and looking good.

The actress, 56, made her red carpet debut for 2018 at the weekend and she sure made it a show-stopper. Ryan stepped out at New York Fashion Week on Saturday in a striking white outfit, paying tribute to the 1970s style of her youth.

While flares have come in and out of fashion since flower-power era, Ryan looks intent on bringing them back for the next generation of style starlets.

She posed for photographers outside the Christian Siriano show, showing off her incredible flared pants and crisp white blazer. She completed the look with a silk, white top and a pair of towering heels.

It’s not the first time Ryan has turned heads in a Siriano outfit. Last year she stole the spotlight at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards in New York, wearing a sparkly white dress by the American designer.

The glamorous gown featured spaghetti straps and a plunging v-neck, with a simple train falling behind.

Ryan has mostly stayed out of the public eye over the past few years and hasn’t been seen on screen since her 2015 movie Ithaca, which featured her long-time co-star Tom Hanks.

Hanks and Ryan have starred in a string of hits together, with films such as You’ve Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle propelling them to legendary status in the romantic-comedy genre.

In 2016, Ryan sparked plenty of debate on social media after appearing at the Tony Awards with a noticeably puffy face.

There were nasty comments flying around the internet with many accusing the actress of plastic surgery.

Others though, jumped to her defence pointing out it was her business to do whatever she wanted to with her face.

Are you a fan of these wild flared pants? Do you remember wearing flares in the ’70s?
