Since stepping away from politics, Julie Bishop has been pictured out and about on numerous occasions, speaking at charity events, awards ceremonies and lending her expertise to various business ventures within the private sector.

The 63-year-old was renowned for her incredible sense of style during her time in Canberra, regularly donning designer dresses and statement killer heels in the Lower House – and, if anything, her sense of style has only got better since calling time on her political career.

Julie made a stunning appearance at the L’Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science Awards on Friday evening, stepping out in an exquisite floor-length gown, made by Australian designer Rachel Gilbert.

The incredible dress was covered in tiny beads and sequins and featured delicate feather detailing on the skirt. She completed the look with a statement bracelet and droplet earrings, and wore her cropped hair in its signature style.

The former deputy Liberal leader posed for photos alongside her partner David Panton, Australian singer Jessica Mauboy and Today show host Allison Langdon at the star-studded event last night.

Allison – who was recently announced as the new co-anchor of the Today show for 2020, alongside returning presenter Karl Stefanovic – looked equally as glamorous on the red carpet, wearing an elegant black jumpsuit with a tuxedo-style waistband and silk lapels.

The television star also hosted the event, while Julie delivered a keynote speech and Jessica Mauboy performed a series of her hit songs.

Fans of the former foreign minister couldn’t get enough of her statement dress on social media, with one person writing: “That dress is everything.”

Another commented: “Fabulous frock!!!!” While a third said: “He’s a very lucky bloke!”

Julie was last seen out and about at Flemington racecourse as she attended Derby Day, ahead of the prestigious Melbourne Cup on November 5. She pulled together the perfect outfit for the first racing event of the month, sporting a pair of stand-out black and white polka-dot wide leg pants and a flowing white blouse.

She finished the classy look with a black and white striped hat and a matching handbag thrown over her shoulder. Meanwhile, she accessorised with some large gold hoop earrings and added a pop of colour with pink nail polish.
