Joan Collins and Bette Midler led the star-studded lineup of celebrities at this year’s Met Gala in two very different, yet equally impressive gowns.
Fitting in perfectly with the theme of Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion the veteran actresses were shining examples of how best to dress for the much-anticipated event in New York City.
The Time of Their Lives star opted for a glamorous white ball gown for the occasion, complete with feathers and a sophisticated pair of white gloves. Looking every bit the icon, she chose to pair the stunning dress with some glitzy accessories including a diamond studded tiara, necklace, dangly earrings and several chunky bracelets.
Meanwhile Bette went with a much darker and bolder colour scheme, sporting a black figure-hugging, sequinned gown which featured butterflies in vibrant shades of blue and green. This was matched with a sparkly black hat which sat on her curly red locks.
The Hocus Pocus actress posed happily for the cameras alongside her daughter Sophie Von Haselberg who made a bold statement in a fiery red gown and a bright red and yellow headpiece.
Joan and Bette were just two of the talented celebrities who hit the pink carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday.
Mary Poppins Returns star Emily Blunt and gorgeous actress Julianne Moore both stood out in gold with two beautiful frocks. Emily wore a tightly fitted, long-sleeved gown which complimented her figure beautifully. She matched this with a gold flower headpiece and a sleek up-do.
Meanwhile, Julianne chose a ruffled gown for the event which flowed gracefully to the floor as she posed for photos on the pink carpet. Her gorgeous red locks were styled in soft waves, while she kept jewellery to a minimum with blue dangly earrings and a matching chunky ring.
Pink was another favourite colour at the Met Gala with co-hosts of the event Anna Wintour and Lady Gaga choosing vastly different outfits.
The Vogue editor looked elegant and classy in a floor-length pale pink dress and a fluffy pink coat to bring the outfit together. She went with her usual blunt bob hair style and matched with a pink lip.
However, A Star is Born’s Lady Gaga, who is known for her unique sense in fashion, went down a completely different route in a bright pink frock with a billowing skirt which floated for metres behind her.
However, this wasn’t the only outfit of the night for the talented singer who made several outfit changes on the night. After showing off her lavish first gown, Lady Gaga stripped down to reveal a strapless black dress underneath. She posed for cameras once again with a black umbrella before revealing a third outfit, a pink figure-hugging frock.
But again, this wasn’t the end for the Oscar-winning star who undressed down to her black underwear. The singer confidently posed for photos in massive black heeled boots showing off her bold personality.
Earlier in the evening Celine Dion made a fabulous entrance in a stunning silver fringe dress and extravagant feather headpiece.
The singer looked glamorous in the long-sleeve Oscar de la Renta gown which reportedly took over 3,000 hours to create and weighed over 10kg, according to People.
She paired the sparkly number with silver heels, showing off her toned legs as she posed for photographs on the pink carpet upon arrival. While the My Heart Will Go On singer opted to accessorise the look with a large feather headpiece, which wouldn’t look amiss in a Las Vegas show.
