If you thought entering your 60s meant you had to tone down things in the style department, think again.

British actress, Emma Thompson, 59, turned heads in an all-black ensemble as she hit the red carpet for the premiere of her latest film, The Children Act, in London on Thursday. Emma stunned in the standout power suit, looking every bit the leading lady that she is.

Looking effortlessly chic, the talented actress showed off her edgy style in an oversized black blazer and trousers. Emma opted for stylish trainers in favour of towering heels on the night, adding some glitz with a pair of diamond drop earrings.

She wore her platinum locks slicked back and kept her makeup to a minimum, which included a soft eyeshadow and pink lipgloss.

Emma plays judge Fiona Maye in the legal drama The Children Act, based on the Ian McEwan novel of the same name.

It tells the story of judge Fiona who is residing over the case of a sick minor whose parents refuse to allow a blood transfusion due to their religious beliefs, and how the case overlaps into her own marital troubles and struggles with the human body. The film, which was directed by Richard Eyre, also stars Stanley Tucci, Fionn Whitehead and Ben Chaplin.

It comes after Emma explained in 2017 why she regrets turning down a date with Donald Trump.

The Academy Award-winning actress says she believes Trump would not have become the US President if she had accepted his request 20 years ago. After meeting on the political drama series Primary Colours (ironically, a film that focusses on the White House) Thompson revealed why she told Trump to “f**k off”.

Thompson recently recalled her run in with Trump during her appearance on The Graham Norton Show alongside her Meyerowitz Stories co-star Adam Sandler.

The Love Actually star revealed, “Trump asked me out once … I could have changed the course of history! We were doing Primary Colours in 1997 and at the point we only associated Trump with tasteless architecture.”
