Fashion is a fickle game and history has taught us it’s only a matter of time before what’s old is new again. That appears to be the case for one of the most iconic looks from the 1970s — a flared jumpsuit — and we’ve got Christie Brinkley to thank for its comeback.
Christie is no stranger to a bold outfit and the blonde beauty sported one of her most flattering yet as she attended the Stephen Weiss Apple Awards in New York on Wednesday, wearing a wild ’70s-style jumpsuit.
The former model looked sensational in the semi-sheer jumpsuit, which featured a flirty V-cut neckline and a chocker.
Also attending was supermodel Iman, the wife of the late David Bowie. The Somali-born beauty stepped out in an amber-coloured dress worn with a brown shawl for the occasion.
The three-time Sports Illustrated cover girl made a name for herself in the ’80s as one of the most popular bikini models in the world and it doesn’t look like she’s giving up the title anytime soon. Since then she has remained a regular in the headlines for her ever-stylish looks.
Certainly not looking her age, Christie was spotted pulling off a tight-fit sports outfit while hosting the Southampton Sweat event with her look-a-like daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook, 20, earlier this year.
The mother-of-three stunned in a white sports bra and long-sleeved netted top, which she teamed with a pair of figure-hugging white tights.
Meanwhile, fellow model and daughter Sailor was the spitting image of her mum in an olive-green sports bra and matching tights.
Sailor has followed in her mother’s footsteps and starred in Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition in 2018.
