The rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the Queen and her daughter-in-law Camilla on Wednesday, as the pair stepped out with huge smiles on their faces as they arrived at Ascot Racecourse together for the second day of events.

The royals appeared in high spirits as they travelled to Royal Ascot with Prince Charles, with the Queen opting for a gorgeous pale blue coat and beautiful hat for the prestigious occasion, which is said to be one of Her Majesty’s favourite days.

Queen Elizabeth II glowed in the long coat, keeping the monarch warm in the cool British weather, which she wore over a blue and white floral frock. She paired the lovely outfit with some long white gloves and accessorised with a gorgeous pearl necklace and earrings. And of course, hooked her trusty handbag over her arm.

Meanwhile, the Queen kept herself dry from the sprinkling of rain which dampened the course with an umbrella which featured a blue trim in the same shade as her outfit.

The Duchess of Cornwall looked equally as beautiful in a pale mint green frock which hung elegantly to her knees and a gorgeous hat in a matching colour. She too matched her outfit with a pair of long white gloves, while she opted for beige heels as she navigated the damp grass.

Following in the footsteps of her mother-in-law, the 71-year-old chose dangly pearl earrings and a pearl necklace with a stunning green jewel.

The royal family took to social media to share a beautiful snap of the pair arriving at the horse racing event and the Queen could be seen beaming at her son and heir.

The post has received much attention from royal fans who complimented the pair’s beautiful outfits of choice for the event.

“What a great capture, Her Majesty positively beaming and Camilla looking at Prince Charles so lovingly,” one person wrote.

“You can tell that the Queen is involved in one of her favourite activities by the beaming smile on her face,” a second said.

While a third added: “Her Majesty’s hat is beautiful. The duchess looks lovely as well. So elegant.”

Also making an appearance at the event was Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex, who celebrated their 20th anniversary.

Making a very low-key appearance and missing the carriage procession, the couple – who share children Lady Louise, 15, and 11-year-old James, Viscount Severn, together – stood side by side to watch the races from a balcony, with Sophie dressed to impress in white to mark the occasion.

Showing the hint of her high-necked white dress, the countess, 54, looked effortlessly elegant with a statement patterned black and white hat. She coupled the beautiful outfit with some simple silver hoop earrings and wore her hair tied back.

Meanwhile, her husband went all out for the occasion in a smart black tux and gold waistcoat, similar to that worn on his wedding day two decades earlier.
