She may have given birth to her fifth child just a few months ago, but actress Brigitte Nielsen has proved she’s still got it.

Brigitte, 55, is no stranger to a bold outfit, and the adored actress showed off her age-defying beauty in a wild kaftan as she attended a glitzy, star-studded event in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Fashion is a fickle game and history has taught us it’s only a matter of time before what’s old is new again. That appears to be the case for one of the most iconic looks from the 1970s — the kaftan — and we’ve got Brigitte to thank for its comeback.

The former model showed off her wild side in the floor-length kaftan, which featured a standout leopard print — a striking pattern that looked eye-catching without being too busy.

She added statement gold earrings and a matching clutch bag, ensuring she stole the show from her fellow stars. As she has for a while now, the star wore her blonde hair in her trademark short style, and kept her glam to a minimum which included a nude lip and well highlighted cheekbones.

Brigitte and her husband Mattia Dessi welcomed a little girl, Frida, into the world on June 22 this year – the blonde beauty’s fifth child. Although thrilled at becoming a mum again, Brigitte confessed in an interview with People magazine recently that the thought of people mistaking her for the grandmother of the beautiful baby does worry her.

While having another child was something the model fought hard for, going through 10 years of in-vitro fertilisation treatment, she knows some might think she is too old. But that hasn’t stopped her urging other women not to give up on their hopes of becoming a mother later in life.

She said: “Some women think, ‘oh my God, I’m too old’. Well, yeah, I can understand people saying, ‘how dare she? But how many men have their first kids in their 60s and 70s and they never doubt it?

“Do I understand that [people] are a bit skeptical? Yes, I understand. I also totally respect the fact that not everybody likes it and agrees with it, but it is my life.”

Do you like Brigitte’s latest daring look? How old were you when you had your last child?
